Fall '21 is wrapping up

Fall Program will be ending on Dec 11

 All BWSI programs are open to eligible students of any gender identity, this fall program is designed to encourage and support girls in STEM.

The Spring program is our "Yes, You can!" series and will also run on eight Saturdays, usually starting in February to early April

The Spring program is for 9th and 10th graders, recruiting students from schools that are underresourced

Students must be able to attend all sessions 

  • Enrollment will be for 1 (one) of the courses.

  • The program is completely free! Students should be interested and excited in learning about robotics, engineering, and programming.

  • Interest in the topic is required but no experience is necessary.

Our Fall Saturday program will be VIRTUAL  and courses are based on Beaver Works Summer Institute courses.  The Fall program is meant to be preparation for applying for the summer 2022 program and so are aimed at 11th graders.  Completion of a course will include eligibility to apply for the summer program.

Information on specific courses

Yes! You Can Program Autonomous Cars uses the Mini-RACECAR course that includes introduction to Python programming and machine vision.  We'll be using a simulator built in Unity to test their code over a virtual racetrack. This course is designed for students who are interested in programming but don't have much experience and we start with introductory programming and work to machine vision and control algorithms to code an autonomous model car.

Girls Who Can Program Cognitive Assistants 

Yes! You Can Hack and Code! introduces students to security in the digital domain.  It is based on the the BWSI Embedded Security and Hardware Hacking course.  Students will compete by programming devices and check the security of each others work in a "capture the flag" style competition.

Many Interesting Things for Aspiring Engineers: An early introduction to the technologies that shape our world.

Yes! You Can Design, Build and Fly Model Aircraft: Introduces students to aerospace engineering using model planes and wind tunnels to demonstrate concepts.

Our RACECAR- Pacific and Kwajalein programs are for regional students.

Laptops: Attendees should plan on using their own computers for zoom meetings and work, but can be provided if needed.

Each course will provide specific project supplies if needed.
